About Lisa



Lisa Ovens is the author of Hockey and High Heels-A Different Kind of Hockey Book, and For the Love of Empty Net Goals: My Adventures Living Hockey. She is the publisher of Hockeyandhighheels.com and has been a hockey blogger since 2006. Lisa's Winter Olympics Blog, 2010 and High Heels was listed as a top blog to follow during Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, along with Olympic blogs at the New York Times, The Toronto Star and The Vancouver Sun. She was the only female blogger on the list.

Consulting with numerous hockey teams in the NHL, WHL and ECHL, Lisa has appeared to sign books and speak at special hockey events for women. Lisa has been interviewed by Fox Sports, CNBC, XM Satellite Radio Canada, CKNW, The Pittsburgh Tribune Review, The Tampa Tribune and The Vancouver Courier Newspaper. Her work has been featured in The Province, Westcoast Families Magazine and on CBC Vancouver Radio One and CBC's Hockey Night in Canada.  Lisa's opinions on women and hockey are often sought out, and she has been quoted in several university level marketing theses.

Hockeyandhighheels.com has supported numerous charities via silent auction events in Canada and the United States with Lisa’s wildly popular “Hockey and High Heels Fun Pack”

Lisa’s Hockey art photographs were included along with the works of Vancouver’s leading artists at Havana’s Hockey Art Show fundraiser, benefiting Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Event organizers selected one of her entries to be used on the event poster.

Lisa worked in sales and marketing for 15 years in both Consumer Electronics and Print Media Advertising. She also enjoyed a travel career working as an international flight attendant.

Born and raised on the South Coast of British Columbia,
Lisa currently lives on Vancouver Island  where she enjoys her work as a ghost writer and other freelance writing projects.
